Camp Occohannock
Camp Occohannock on the Bay is a member of the UMC Camp and Retreat Ministry. The camp is in Belle Haven, VA near the bottom of the Delmarva peninsula. The mission of Camp Occohannock is to create environments of Christian hospitality and learning designed to help people. It provides opportunities where everyone is welcome, faith is strengthened, and lives are changed. It is a ministry that impacts youth, children, families, and the larger community.
Paxton UMC shares a special connection with Camp Occohannock’s director, Rev. Joel Coleman, who grew up in our congregation. For several years, Paxton UMC members have participated in mission projects at the camp. Several Paxton members have taken the plunge in the camp’s annual Polar Duck Dip fundraising event. One Paxton member has even served as a camp counselor!
